Where Mark comes from

Mark spent three years at Meta, where he owned improvements to the Instagram profile, a surface that serves a billion impressions a day, and worked on making it faster across platforms. Before Meta he was a software engineer at T. Rowe Price and at Lascar Electronics, with internships at JPMorgan Chase and RedOwl Analytics along the way. He studied computer science at the University of Maryland.

A long way round to cars

Mark grew up around his family's business in automotive sales and restoration. In his words:

“I got used to the question: ‘So, are you going to sell cars like your dad when you grow up?’ Although I’ve been saying no for some 25 years now, I guess the answer is finally yes.”

He came to his interviews having already read up on lien perfection and franchise law, which is not where most engineers start.

What Mark will do here

Mark joins the engineering team in New York. He works on the platform behind the AI Sales Agent, which answers buyers on the dealer's own website and over text, around the clock, and the Transaction Engine, which takes a deal from financing through titling and registration in all 50 states.

Why it matters here

Software for dealers is built best by people who know how a dealership actually runs. Mark has seen one from the inside, and he has built product at the scale of a billion impressions a day.

Welcome to the team, Mark.
