MOM AND DAD'S WEDDING PHOTO

Feb. 19,1949 L. to. R. Leonard Hammond, Melvin Hammond, Olga Renas, Vera Jocabie

Mom and Dad's Wedding Picture in Chilliwack, B.C. on Feb. 19, 1949.

Uncle Leonard on the left at 21 years old, Dad at 36, and Mom at 23 years of age.

Wedding was conducted by Rev. Phil Downs in the German Baptist Church in Chilliwack, B.C.

A one week honeymoon afterward was spent in Victoria, B.C. before returning to Dad's cold, snow covered farm, 1-1/2 miles west of Maryfield, Saskatchewan.

Mom and Dad met through his sister, Aunt Mabel Goshulak.  Dad got Mom's address from his sister Mabel and wrote letters and exchanged pictures for 8 months until they formally met in December, 1948.  Mom had been ushering at a church meeting (for Billy Graham she thinks) in March 1948 when she first saw Dad sitting beside his sister Mabel, but did not speak with him directly until the following December, 1948.  Dad had also seen her at the same church meeting and asked his sister Mabel for Mom's address.
