AGENDA

  • Your course dates are shown on the calendar attached to your invoice.
  • Class times are:
    • 8:30AM to 5:00PM with 1 hour for lunch unless everyone brings a lunch.
    • 8:30AM to 4:30PM if everyone opts for only ½ hour lunch time. (preferred by most students)

COFFEE, LUNCH AND FREE COOKIES!
  • Coffee Breaks are at 10:00AM and 3:00PM
  • Lunch from 12:00 to 1:00PM or 12:00 to 12:30PM if the whole class wants to finish at 4:30PM!
    •
  • Emerald Links club house restaurant serves lunch time specials from May 1 to Oct. 31.
  • Refrigerator and microwave supplied in both of our student kitchens for student convenience.
    •
  • Mouth watering Cookies are provided free!!
  • Coffee, juice ($0.50/cup)
  • Soft drinks ($0.75) are available at our cost.

The following equipment is available at EKHO for use in our many award-winning courses.

n       Pentium 4, Windows 2000/XP networked computers with 500-2000 Mb RAM, 19” Monitors & LCDs for each student.

n       Windows 2000 Server with 260 Gb of hard disk storage.

n       Robotel Video network for convenient viewing at your desk.

n       Steelcase Sensor chairs and Steelcase desks for all day comfort and learning enhancement.

n       Canon D60 digital SLR camera for 3072 x 2048 resolution pictures.

n       Nikon 995 digital camera for 2536 x 1528 resolution pictures.

n        Kodak DCS260 digital camera for 1536 x 1024 resolution pictures.

n        Compact flash card readers for ALL types of flash memory.

n       HP5000 Duplex and HP4 Laser Printers for up to 11”x17” 1200/600 dpi black and white copies.

n       HP1220C, HP1100 and HP1120C Ink Jet printer for up to 13”x19” color output at 2400 dpi photographic quality.

n       Sony DVD recorders for 4.7 Gb. recordings.

n       HP 6300C 1200dpi professional, networked, flat bed scanner.

n       TV/VCR in student lounge for videos.

n       Stereo head sets on each computer.

n       100 Mb/sec. High speed network cabling for fast file transfer on network

n       Wireless 802.11B network for Laptop computer connections.

n        High Speed Rogers Internet connection for Internet and e-mail access during class breaks.

n       Full PBX phone system with 8 incoming lines, 20 active extensions, with private voice mail boxes for each user.

n      Two fully equipped student kitchens with microwave, refrigerator, etc.

INCLUDED WITH ALL COURSES:

The following items are included with your course fees;

  • Instruction manual and exercise drawing disk plus EKHO TIP sheets
  • One EKHO Memory Strip for AutoCAD or Windows 2000/XP.
  • Additional EKHO Memory Strips can be purchased at half price ($5.00) while you are here on the course

LUNCH AND COFFEE BREAKS

Lunch times and coffee breaks can be spent;

  • In the summer months:
    • on the pool patio under the umbrellas
    • in our all weather gazebo with kitchen or on the pool deck
    • There is a restaurant across the street in the Emerald LInks clubhouse with great lunchtime specials
      •
    • on our professional, lighted tennis court.
  • Year Round:
    • Student lounge/kitchen with fridge and microwave adjacent to classroom 2 (downstairs).
    • Manotick is 5 minutes away to the West on RR8 with several types of restaurants.
      •
    • Bank and Albion is 10 minutes away with many fast food restaurants.
    • Bakkers Deli and McEwens Gas bar both supply take out sandwiches and are 2 minutes away by car.
    • Rideau Carleton Slots Restaurant for affordable breakfast or lunch time specials. (3 minutes away by car.)

BASIC COURTESIES

PARKING IS SAFE AND FREE!

  • We provide 1 free, safe, parking spot per student. (total of 17+ spots)
    •
  • Parking is in the back of our lot. Please see aerial photo for location.
  • Snow is removed early and promptly during the winter months! (Much sooner than Ottawa's city streets!!)

NO SMOKING INDOORS PLEASE!

  • Smoking is NOT permitted inside any buildings including entries, gazebo, lounge, heated parking garage, etc.
  • Please deposit cigarette butts in ashtrays only, not on our lawn, driveway, etc.
    •
  • This is required for your comfort as well as municipal and federal legal requirements.

OUTDOOR FOOTWEAR

Outdoor footwear is NOT to be worn indoors at EKHO during the winter months (October to April). Please bring indoor shoes if you wish. Your cooperation and courtesy on this matter is greatly appreciated as we take great pride in cleanliness for your comfort and convenience at EKHO.  We also prefer that you wear smooth soled footwear to eliminate mud and stones from running shoe cleats.

SPORTS FACILITIES (Summer months only)

While you are here on course you are welcome to enjoy the following at lunch breaks, coffee breaks and after class.

·         Volleyball, badminton, professional tennis court, golf driving range, putting green, heated pool, kitchen equipped gazebo, pool house with shower.

TELEPHONE USE

There are 6 Toshiba digital phones with voice mail boxes for students, available to the students in the following 6 locations;

    • Both classrooms. (Voice mail available (613-822-6935) for students who need to receive calls;  ext. 17 for upstairs classroom 1, ext. 23 for downstairs classroom 2)
    • Student lounge outside classroom 2.
    • Upstairs office - Both Reception and Spare Desk.
    • Gazebo during the "summer" months, April to November.

that you are welcome to use. Please use lines 3 and 5 only, leaving phone line 1 free for our incoming business calls. You will need a calling card to make any long distance calls.  Please be brief so that others can make their calls as well during the short coffee breaks.  Cell phones should be turned off (or turned on vibrate mode only) during class time and used on break time only.

INTERNET USE

We have full time high speed Internet access at ALL student workstations so that you may access the web or your e-mails during coffee and lunch breaks.  You can also receive e-mails here if required.  See Elton Hammond for directions on how this can be done easily at your desk.

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Pencils, Pens, yellow highlighters, metric/imperial tape measures are provided in each of the student's Steelcase desk drawers for your convenience and work on projects.
  • Adjustable height, high quality, comfortable, ergonomic Steelcase Sensor chairs are supplied at each Steelcase desk for your all day comfort and learning enhancement.
